Summer skincare tips

Summer skincare tips

Summers in Hawai’i’ are beautiful, with temperatures in the 80s, light humidity and breezy winds that help it feel far less warmer than it is.

Both the sun and windy cross winds can significantly impact your daily skin routines, so adapting your routine with seasonal skin care tips specific to Hawai’i’ is crucial.

We’ve got a few tips to keep your skin looking its best this summer.

Never forget your sunscreen

Sunscreen should be in your skin care routine regardless of the weather for the day, this step is the most crucial in the summer. If we were only allowed to give you one skin care tip, it would be to never forget your sunscreen.

Sunscreen is essential for helping to reduce the amount of ultraviolet UVA and UVB that is allowed to impact your skin. Plus, the more you protect your skin from the sun, the longer you can fight off visible signs of premature aging like fine lines and wrinkles, thinning and hyperpigmentation (dark spots).

Sunscreens come in many different varieties, but the key is looking for one that checks all the boxes set by dermatologists — an SPF (sun protective factor) of 35 or higher, broad-spectrum protection from both UVA and UVB radiation from the sun and water resistance (meaning you may not have to reapply as often).

Invest in a hat

It’s important to find other ways to protect your skin from the sun’s rays. A good hat is not only stylish but can also help to give you a little added protection from direct sunlight.

Try a facial mist

When the temperatures climb, it can be difficult to get relief from the heat. Facial mists allow you to cool down your facial temperature while also providing benefits for your skin — hydrating, reducing swelling (which can help with melanin overproduction).

Facial mists combine all of the benefits including hydration, tone, and refreshes your skin throughout the day. You’ll wonder why you never did this before!.

Use cosmetic treatments

Cosmetic treatments can be just as beneficial in the summer as they are at any other time of the year — it comes down to knowing which ones will help you the most.
